The tournament in brief
The Terra Wortmann Open brings men’s grass-court tennis to Halle in Westfalen, Germany. Book for Halle (Westf.), near Bielefeld, not Halle (Saale). The organiser publishes 12–20 June 2027 for the whole event; the arena’s 2027 listing gives 14–20 June for the main tournament. The 2027 ATP calendar lists Halle as an ATP 500, making it a useful step between a smaller tour event and a Grand Slam when choosing a first overseas tennis break.
The stadium is now called heristo-arena, following its change from OWL Arena in January 2026. The address remains Roger-Federer-Allee 4, 33790 Halle (Westfalen). You may encounter the previous arena name in maps and railway information. Match the address and town before buying a hotel or rail ticket. Early rounds suit visitors who want several courts to choose from; the final weekend suits those happy to centre the day on fewer matches.

Tickets and court access
Prices vary by day and seat. The official ticket site shows live prices.
Start at the organiser’s Tickets page and follow its link into the 2027 shop. A normal Centre Court day ticket gives a numbered seat and access to adjacent courts, where seating is unreserved. You buy a date, not a guarantee of seeing a particular player. Select the day first, then compare the viewing angle, seat category and any concessions that apply to your party.
| Product / exact comparison | Court access | EUR price / year | Approximate GBP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday 16 June 2025 · category IV | First-round Centre Court day | Historical €33 | About £28 |
| Friday 20 June 2025 · category IV | Quarter-finals Centre Court day | Historical €55 | About £47 |
| Saturday 21 June 2025 · category IV | Semi-finals Centre Court day | Historical €69 | About £58 |
| Sunday 22 June 2025 · category IV | Finals Centre Court day | Historical €46 | About £39 |
The historical examples below are exact category IV prices from the official 2025 sheet: Monday’s first-round day, Friday’s quarter-finals, Saturday’s semi-finals and Sunday’s finals. They are comparisons, not 2027 offers. Sterling uses the ECB reference rate of 9 October 2026, €1 = £0.84763, rounded; your bank may add conversion charges. The current booking summary determines the 2027 charge and any delivery or booking costs.
For hospitality, read the inclusions carefully. The arena explains that a VIP-area admission can require a separate Centre Court ticket. Premium and Platin products have different benefits, so buying the most expensive-sounding label is not enough to establish what tennis seat you receive. For one day, choose a main-draw date and a seat you will enjoy for several hours, then spend part of the programme beside an outside court.

Getting there from the UK
Compare flights by the complete journey to your hotel. Düsseldorf Airport is a practical rail-connected option, but its airport station and terminal station are different places. For an onward regional or long-distance train, follow signs to Düsseldorf Flughafen and use the airport SkyTrain connection. Its published ride takes around seven minutes; add time for collecting luggage and finding the departure platform.
Plan the onward journey in Deutsche Bahn using Halle (Westf.) or the arena stop as the destination, commonly with a change at Bielefeld. Long-distance fares vary by train and booking conditions, so price the airport-to-hotel route before choosing a cheap flight. A 2026 VRR adult single within fare level A is €3.80, approximately £3.20: that local fare is not a through ticket to Halle. Check whether your rail fare already includes the SkyTrain before paying again.
The organiser also lists Münster/Osnabrück and Paderborn/Lippstadt as nearer airports, with about 45 minutes by car, and Hannover as another alternative. Check the actual UK flight connections for your travel dates and the arrival-hour transfer before committing. An all-rail trip can begin with Eurostar to Brussels and continue through Germany; build it in the operators’ planners with generous connection time. Arriving the previous afternoon avoids relying on a flight and multiple trains before your first match.

Getting there on the day
From Bielefeld Hauptbahnhof, the RB75 Haller Willem takes approximately 30 minutes to the arena stop, followed by the organiser’s roughly five-minute footpath. From Osnabrück Hauptbahnhof the published train journey is around 45 minutes. The stop may appear as OWL-Arena (HalleWestf.), while some accessibility information retains Gerry-Weber-Stadion. Follow the station signs and confirm the current stop in the rail planner.
The organiser says tournament tickets cover specified second-class local transport on the event day in Bielefeld and the surrounding listed districts; its FAQ describes the additional Haller Willem transition area. Read the printed conditions for your ticket and route. This is not permission to take any ICE or to ride all the way from Düsseldorf without paying. Save your ticket before boarding so you can show it without relying on mobile reception.
Allow a separate margin for the entry checkpoint and finding your section. Before leaving the hotel, save the last workable train home and one earlier alternative. A match can run beyond your intended departure, and the walk to the station is only part of the return journey. Keep the following morning’s airport connection separate from your tennis-night timetable.

Accessibility
Contact the official Ticket Center before buying if you need a wheelchair space or companion seating. The organiser lists wheelchair viewing at all match courts and an accessible route from the RB75 stop. Ask which entrance and seating position apply to your chosen day, whether your companion needs a separate ticket, and what evidence is accepted for any concession.
Its accessibility page also identifies nearby designated parking, a separate entrance and accessible toilets. Check the arrival plan against your particular needs: step-free access, walking distance, seating breaks and toilet location are different questions. If you need railway boarding assistance, arrange that with the rail operator and allow extra transfer time at Bielefeld. For the hotel, request confirmation of lift access and bathroom features, not simply a room described as accessible.

Entry requirements for UK visitors
Entry information was checked on 9 October 2026. For a full British citizen passport, Germany follows Schengen rules: the issue date must be less than ten years before arrival, and expiry must be at least three months after your planned departure from Schengen. Tourist visits normally fit within the visa-free limit of 90 days in any 180, counting trips to other Schengen countries too. Always check GOV.UK before you book.
EES border registration may involve a photograph and fingerprints, with no registration fee; allow extra border time. GOV.UK says ETIAS is expected from Autumn 2026; no action is required from travellers at this point, checked 11 October 2026. Check the official EU status again before your 2027 trip. Carry your passport on an international rail itinerary and check the rules for any transit country. Germany uses euros and is one hour ahead of the UK in June, so set your phone and ticket calendar to local time.
For ETIAS, check the official launch position again before your 2027 journey. GOV.UK currently says no action is required from travellers at this point; do not apply until the official process opens.

Where to stay
Hotel links are affiliate links to Booking.com via CJ. We may earn a commission if you book through them, at no extra cost to you.
Choose your base by how you want the evening to work. Halle is easiest for staying close to tennis; Bielefeld offers a broader city stay and the straightforward RB75 route. Osnabrück also has a direct local-train option. A lower room price in a different town can disappear into taxi costs if the last public-transport connection is awkward.
The journey descriptions below are planning choices, not promised door-to-gate times. Check the hotel’s exact address, distance to its station, cancellation terms and breakfast start time. A room near a rail station can be especially useful with luggage, but ask about street and railway noise if you sleep lightly. Book a cancellable option while you compare the confirmed tennis dates and travel connections.

Make a weekend of it
For a two-night break, arrive on Friday, have an uncomplicated dinner and use Saturday for tennis. Reserve Sunday morning for a gentle walk and breakfast before travelling home. If Sunday’s final is your priority, arrive on Saturday and depart Monday instead: a fixed Sunday evening flight can force you to leave the court during the best part of the match.
Halle works well as a quieter base; Bielefeld or Osnabrück makes more sense if restaurants and a city stroll matter alongside the tennis. Leave a sightseeing morning open instead of booking several timed activities around a match whose finish is uncertain. Pack comfortable shoes, a waterproof layer, sun protection and a portable charger. The main arena has a closable roof, but adjacent courts still require an outdoor-weather plan.
On your tennis morning, eat before setting out, check the Order of Play and aim to reach the venue before your first intended match. Use a changeover to visit another court, take a proper meal break and return to your numbered seat for the programme you most want. A smaller tournament rewards watching the tennis closely; you do not need to rush between every court to get value from the day.

More tennis nearby
Libéma Open in Rosmalen is another European grass option, combining men’s and women’s tennis; use its separate guide to compare the Dutch rail journey and court tickets. Queen’s in London offers a UK city break, while Eastbourne and Nottingham offer different grass-court settings. Each has its own schedule and ticket system, so choose the trip that fits the tennis you want to see.
Halle and Queen’s occupy the same part of the grass season, making them alternatives for most short breaks. A multi-event holiday needs separate dated tickets and enough travel time between towns. Use the worldwide directory to explore other German events, then check surface and season before assuming another tournament offers the same grass-court experience.
