2027 planning: 2027 dates and the VANDA Pharmaceuticals sponsor title are published. Choose the exact day and seat through the organiser.
The tournament in brief
The VANDA Pharmaceuticals Berlin Tennis Open is a WTA 500 grass-court event at the Steffi-Graf-Stadion on the LTTC Rot-Weiß grounds in Grunewald. The organiser gives 12–20 June 2027 for the whole event, while the WTA lists the main draw on 14–20 June. This is women’s tennis in an outdoor club setting, with a reserved-stadium visit that can fit comfortably into a wider Berlin city break.
Use the full current sponsor title when checking your booking confirmation, even though this guide uses the shorter Berlin Tennis Open name. The venue address is Gottfried-von-Cramm-Weg 47–55, 14193 Berlin. Do not choose a hotel solely by its distance from central Berlin: the tennis is in the west of the city. A practical route to Grunewald or Hagenplatz can matter more than being beside a famous central landmark.

Tickets and court access
Start at the organiser’s Tickets page and follow the link for your chosen 2027 day to its official ticket partner. Select the court seat you want and read the category description before paying. The opening main-draw days offer first-round tennis; later products specify the advertised round. You buy admission for a date, not a promise of seeing a particular player, whose appearance depends on the draw and results.
Prices vary by day and seat. The official ticket site shows live prices. Compare the actual category and viewing position, the concession rules and the payment total. A low advertised starting figure does not tell you which remaining seat will be available when you book. If you need seats together, select them together and confirm the section and row on the order summary.
A week-long ticket gives a fixed Centre Court seat through the main draw according to the organiser’s description. For a short break, a single early-week court day can give you a clear anchor for the trip, leaving another day for Berlin. A final-weekend visit is more concentrated: choose it because you want the closing rounds, and leave travel plans flexible enough to enjoy a long match. Save your ticket before leaving the hotel and keep the account email accessible.

Getting there from the UK
Berlin Brandenburg Airport, BER, has its railway station beneath Terminal 1 on level U2. The airport currently lists the Airport Express FEX through Südkreuz and Potsdamer Platz to Hauptbahnhof, with approximately 23 minutes between airport and Hauptbahnhof. That is the train ride, not an airport-to-hotel allowance: add border checks, luggage, waiting and the connection to your neighbourhood.
For a standard local trip from BER, choose a ticket covering Berlin ABC because the airport lies outside the city’s AB area. The 2026 adult ABC single is €5.00, approximately £4.20. Sterling examples use the ECB reference rate of 9 October 2026, €1 = £0.84763, rounded; your bank can add charges. Buy or validate the ticket as required for the product you choose and check the current 2027 tariff before travelling.
Compare a UK flight by the time you will reach your actual hotel. The S9 can be useful for western-city stops, while FEX may suit an arrival through Hauptbahnhof followed by another connection. Use the current airport and BVG planners to decide. For a rail holiday, plan Eurostar and onward German services with the operators, allowing time for changes and any assistance. Arrive the day before tennis if possible, so a delayed international journey does not consume your court day.

Getting there on the day
The organiser recommends public transport, naming Grunewald S-Bahn station and the Hagenplatz bus stop within walking distance of the grounds. Use BVG to plan the exact journey from your hotel and follow the tournament signs for the final walk. Set the destination to the stadium address, not just the neighbourhood, so the planner includes the last section.
The tennis ticket does not include local transport. A 2026 adult Berlin AB single costs €4.00, approximately £3.40; compare a day ticket if you will make several journeys. Keep airport travel in ABC separate from a city-only AB plan. Check engineering works shortly before the trip and save a backup connection for the return. On a sunny weekend, allow a little extra time for the station walk and entry queue.
The organiser says there is no on-site parking, so a hire car adds little to a tennis-and-city stay. A taxi can help when walking is difficult, but agree the drop-off and pickup location beforehand. Keep any airport departure on the following day comfortably separated from your session; a match can finish later than you expected, and Grunewald still requires a journey back to the hotel or station.

Accessibility
The official FAQ describes accessible access to the grounds and stadium and wheelchair places in blocks A0 and B0. Contact the organiser before booking to confirm the available viewing position, companion seating and the entrance route for your particular day. Its concession rules use German disability documentation, so ask what evidence is accepted from UK visitors instead of assuming your usual card will qualify.
Check the transport route separately. An accessible stadium seat does not settle questions about lifts, platforms or the final walking section. Use BVG’s current route information and ask about any assistance you need. For the hotel, confirm lift access, bathroom features and the route from the nearest stop. A taxi fallback may make a long day more manageable; keep its cost in the trip budget and agree a pickup point you can reach comfortably.

Entry requirements for UK visitors
Entry rules were checked on 9 October 2026. For a full British citizen passport, the issue date must be less than ten years before arrival and expiry at least three months after your planned departure from Schengen. Tourist visits normally fit the visa-free allowance of 90 days in any 180, including time in other Schengen countries. Always check GOV.UK before you book.
EES registration can involve a photo and fingerprints, without a registration fee. Allow extra border time. GOV.UK says ETIAS is expected from Autumn 2026; no action is required from travellers at this point, checked 11 October 2026. Carry documents required by any transit country and your transport operator. Germany uses euros and is one hour ahead of the UK during these tournament weeks. Save the match programme and travel bookings in local time.
For ETIAS, check the official launch position again before your 2027 journey. GOV.UK currently says no action is required from travellers at this point; do not apply until the official process opens.

For tennis convenience, start by comparing Grunewald, Halensee and western Charlottenburg. They keep your attention on the final journey towards the club. Kurfürstendamm suits visitors who also want city restaurants and shopping nearby, while a Hauptbahnhof or Mitte stay can work for a wider sightseeing trip if you accept the longer daily transfer.
Choose a hotel by its real route, cancellation terms and total cost. Compare the walk to the station or bus stop, reception hours and luggage storage as well as the room photographs. If you are travelling as a family, check bedding arrangements and whether breakfast suits an early departure. For several tennis days, easy transport can be worth paying for; for one court day and several city days, a more central base may fit better.

Make a weekend of it
A three-night stay can give you an arrival evening, one full tennis day and one free day in Berlin. For a final-weekend visit, arrive Friday, watch your chosen Saturday or Sunday session and leave after the tennis is finished. Avoid reserving a major timed attraction on the same afternoon as a court ticket: a compelling match is easier to enjoy when nothing else is counting down.
Keep sightseeing grouped by neighbourhood. You can use a free morning for the city centre, a museum or a relaxed café, then reserve the following day for Grunewald. Confirm opening hours and book any attraction separately. If your hotel is close to the grounds, a quieter local evening can be more welcome after tennis than another cross-city trip. Leave a little unscheduled time so the break feels like a holiday.
Pack for outdoor grass: comfortable shoes, a waterproof layer, sun protection and something warm for later. The organiser’s FAQ permits bags no larger than A4 and restricts larger cameras with interchangeable lenses. Check the latest venue rules before deciding what to carry. Leave travel luggage at the hotel, take a card or phone wallet with a backup, and charge the device holding your ticket. Its FAQ says the on-site ticket office takes cashless payments.
Check the Order of Play the evening before and choose the first match you want to see. On arrival, find your section and essential facilities before settling in. Use changeovers and other permitted breaks for moving around, keep quiet during points and follow the stewards. Take a proper meal break and allow time to return to your section; several hours of grass-court tennis is more enjoyable when you have paced the day.

Halle’s Terra Wortmann Open is a men’s ATP 500 grass event in the same part of June, so it is an alternative for many short breaks. Libéma Open combines both tours earlier in the grass swing, and Queen’s, Nottingham and Eastbourne offer UK choices. Check which programme matters to your group before deciding between a men’s event, a women’s event and a combined tournament.
Hamburg offers another German city break on clay, with its ATP event in May and its WTA event in July. For indoor autumn tennis, compare Vienna, Basel or Rotterdam’s own season. A longer holiday can join cities by rail, but buy separate dated tennis tickets and leave enough time for travel. Use the directory to compare level, surface and month before building an itinerary around several events.
