2027 planning: Toronto hosts the men in 2027. Whole-event dates and Premium Series packages are published; the main-draw range is provisional.
The tournament in brief
Toronto hosts the men’s Canadian Open in 2027, the National Bank Open presented by Rogers. It is an ATP Masters 1000 on outdoor hard courts at Sobeys Stadium on the York University campus. Montreal hosts the women’s WTA 1000 in the same year. The organiser publishes the whole event for Saturday 31 July to Thursday 12 August 2027, subject to changes. The ATP calendar starts Toronto on 1 August; this guide treats the complete 1–12 August main-draw range as provisional until a current daily Toronto schedule confirms it.
The tennis is in north-west Toronto, well away from the downtown waterfront. Choose whether the trip revolves around several stadium days or one session within a broader city holiday. For repeated visits, easy access to the Vaughan branch of Line 1 makes the hotel decision simpler. For sightseeing, a central base can work if you accept the journey north. Both approaches give you a good trip when the travel time is planned before you book your room.

Tickets and court choices
The official Toronto 2027 page says full-event packages are on sale and advertises the named Premium Series from C$1,560. It gives the package’s event range as 31 July–12 August, including the opening event day; this does not make every day a main-draw day. Ask the ticket team which seats, sessions and perks are included in the offer you select. Confirm the total including any tax and service fees before payment. The page offers a waitlist for single-session or multi-session products, without a dated public general-sale announcement.
For visitors comparing a full-event purchase with a low-cost introduction, the second row records Toronto’s free qualifying admission on Saturday 1 August 2026. It is a historical example, not a promise of free 2027 entry. Follow the current booking instructions if a similar offer returns: free admission can still require registration and has capacity limits. A grounds or qualifying product does not automatically confer a reserved seat for a later main-draw session.
Sterling estimates use the ECB reference rates of 9 October 2026: €1 = C$1.5942 and £0.84763, giving C$1 approximately £0.53170. Figures are rounded; your card provider’s exchange rate and fees can differ.
| Date / session | Court / category | Official C$ price and year | Approx. sterling |
|---|---|---|---|
| 31 July–12 August 2027 · full event | Premium Series · full-event package | From C$1,560 · 2027 | About £829 |
| 1 August 2026 · qualifying | Toronto qualifying admission | C$0 · 2026 | £0 |
A full-event package suits someone staying for most of the tournament. For a short break, wait for the product covering your actual day rather than paying for unused sessions without comparing the alternatives. Check court access, seating, concession eligibility and weather terms carefully. Buy for the tennis you can attend, save the confirmation and download admission when the organiser releases it. A player’s participation and progress can change, so choose a session you will enjoy even if your favourite is absent.

Getting there from the UK
For Toronto, start with UK flights to Pearson, airport code YYZ. Compare direct services and connections against the time you expect to reach your hotel. A low fare can lose its appeal if it adds another border process, an awkward terminal transfer or a very late arrival. Check transit conditions for any connecting country and arrive before your first session. The airport code and hotel address matter more than the broad label of a Toronto flight.
UP Express links Pearson with Union Station in approximately 28 minutes for the train journey. The operator advertises C$12.35 or less, approximately £6.60 at the reference rate used here; this is current information checked on 9 October 2026. Choose the payment product that applies to you and confirm the 2027 tariff. Allow additional time for the airport arrival process, reaching the platform, waiting and the onward hotel connection. A hotel beside Union can be convenient for this transfer, while the stadium still requires a separate trip north.
For a York University or Vaughan base, compare the complete airport-to-property journey instead of assuming downtown Union is the best connection. Taxis or pre-booked transfers may suit a group with luggage; agree the fare and pickup arrangements in advance. If adding Montreal, reserve the intercity journey separately. The Canadian events overlap, so decide which sessions you want in each city before buying flights and hotel nights around them.

Getting there on the day
Sobeys Stadium is at 1 Shoreham Drive on York University’s campus. The organiser recommends Pioneer Village station on TTC Line 1 towards Vaughan, followed by an approximately eight-minute walk. Use the correct branch of Line 1 when travelling from the centre: a hotel on the other side of the line’s U-shaped route can produce a very different journey. Put the stadium address into the current planner and check the final walk to your gate.
The TTC Free Ride Home benefit is no longer available according to the current tournament transport page. Budget for the return as well as the outward ride, check service changes and keep your payment method ready. Give yourself time for the campus walk and entry screening. A downtown lunch followed by an afternoon session can work, but the stadium is a separate northern outing; do not schedule it as a short walk from waterfront sightseeing.
For a taxi or rideshare, the organiser recommends the roundabout on Arboretum Lane north-east of the stadium. Confirm pickup instructions on the day, especially after a busy evening session. Drivers should check whether their ticket includes parking and which lot it specifies; some lots need a pass. A hire car can be useful for a wider Ontario holiday, but for a Toronto city stay the subway avoids traffic and the extra parking decisions.

Accessibility
Toronto’s official accessibility information places accessible seating in Level 100, with companion seats also available through the booking routes. Contact the ticket team with your chosen date and requirements before paying so the viewing position and companion arrangements suit you. Public elevators are listed between Gates A and B by the main entrance and between Gates C and D by the drawboard. Ask the team to explain the best entrance and route for the actual seats you select.
A wheelchair escort to the seat is available on request; it is an escort service, so confirm any equipment you need throughout the session separately. Accessible parking is first come, first served under the organiser’s stated permit rules. Ask how those rules apply to UK documentation before arranging a driving visit. Check station lift operation, the campus walking route and the hotel’s room features as separate parts of the plan. A clearly arranged drop-off and return pickup can be useful when a long day becomes tiring.

Entry requirements for UK visitors
Entry requirements were checked on 9 October 2026. GOV.UK says a full British citizen passport must be valid for the duration of your stay. British tourists usually visit Canada without a visa for a short stay, but eligible visitors arriving by air need an electronic travel authorization, or eTA, including when transiting a Canadian airport. Apply through the Government of Canada website before travel and use the passport you will carry. Approval is linked electronically to that passport; a replacement passport can therefore change what you need to do.
An eTA is normally unnecessary for entry by land or sea, although the other entry conditions still apply. British–Canadian dual nationals have different passport requirements, so follow the nationality-specific advice. Keep your return or onward journey and accommodation details available for border questions. If you add a United States tournament, check the separate US entry requirements and the route you will use to cross the border. A Canadian eTA gives no US travel permission. Revisit GOV.UK and the official Canadian eligibility page before your 2027 departure.

For a tennis-led stay, begin with York University, Pioneer Village or Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and test the exact journey from the property. For a city break, downtown around Union or the University Avenue side of Line 1 can make sightseeing and the stadium connection easier to understand. The Annex and Bloor-Yorkville offer neighbourhood restaurants and shops, but check the station and branch before treating every central address as equally convenient.
These five search areas cover different priorities. The budget labels are relative, with no fixed summer room prices assumed. Compare the final total, cancellation conditions, late reception, luggage storage and the walk from transport. For several court days, a reliable route can be worth more than an impressive lobby. For one tennis day, a central hotel may make the rest of the holiday more enjoyable. Confirm air conditioning and any accessibility features directly with the property.

Make a weekend of it
Give a Toronto break three or four nights if possible: arrive, devote a full day to tennis and keep another day for the city. The published 2027 event begins on Saturday 31 July and ends on Thursday 12 August. For an opening-weekend trip, select the current Toronto admission product and daily schedule before treating a particular session as qualifying or main draw. For the closing rounds, plan weekday leave: the advertised end of the event is a Thursday.
Use the free day for a waterfront walk, a museum or an Annex and Yorkville neighbourhood visit. Destination Toronto describes waterfront gardens and the islands as separate parts of that district; check ferry schedules and capacity before committing to an island outing. Keep it on the city day, away from the northern stadium trip. Book any timed attraction independently and leave a little room for changing weather and the pace of your group.
On the tennis day, have breakfast before the journey north, reach the grounds early and locate your section before play. Wear comfortable shoes, take sun protection and a layer for later, and check the current restrictions before packing snacks or a large bag. Leave suitcases at the hotel. If you want an evening meal downtown, make it flexible enough to accommodate a long match and the return ride; a nearby simple meal may be easier after a full day of tennis.

More tennis nearby
Build a North American summer swing from the Washington Open through the Canadian Open in Montreal and Canadian Open in Toronto, then the Cincinnati Open and US Open. The two Canadian events run together, so choose your preferred tour first and divide your days deliberately if you want both. Leave travel days between cities, price each flight or rail leg separately and secure admission for each event. A long itinerary works best when it includes time away from the courts.
For a spring trip, the Indian Wells and Miami Open guides form the US sunshine double. That is a separate March journey; it can help you decide whether a warm-weather tennis holiday or the August hard-court build-up suits your available time.
