2027 planning: Montreal hosts the women in 2027. Whole-event and main-draw dates are published; historical ticket examples below retain their 2026 labels.

The tournament in brief

Montreal hosts the women’s Canadian Open in 2027: the Omnium Banque Nationale présenté par Rogers, part of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers. The WTA lists it as a WTA 1000 on outdoor hard courts at IGA Stadium, with the main draw from 1 to 12 August 2027. The organiser’s whole-event dates are 31 July–12 August, including qualifying on Saturday 31 July. Toronto hosts the men that year. These are two sites for parallel tournaments, so buy the Montreal product if women’s tennis is your reason for travelling.

The stadium sits beside Jarry Park in Villeray, away from the Old Montreal waterfront. That creates a useful choice: stay near local cafés and the tennis, or choose a central city-break hotel and travel north for your court day. For a first visit, one early main-draw session plus a second day to explore the city makes a manageable introduction. Later rounds suit visitors who want a smaller number of decisive matches. Choose the experience and dates first, then build the hotel and flights around them.

Tickets and court choices

Use the Montreal section of the official National Bank Open website and check the year, court, session and seat before paying. Centre Court reserved seats, secondary-court access and grounds admission are different products. A grounds pass can be an enjoyable way to explore qualifying or practice when offered, but it gives no automatic reserved Centre Court seat. Named-player appearances depend on the draw and results, so make the tournament experience the reason for your booking.

The figures below are explicitly 2026 examples. The qualifying-day starting price identifies reserved seats on the main show courts, without promising a particular section or a 2027 tariff. Belvédère is a premium full-event hospitality product, priced per seat, with the 2026 event running 1–13 August. Its size and inclusions make it a different purchase from a single tennis day. Ask the ticket team for the current category, availability and total including any tax or service fees. A public 2027 general-sale date is not announced in the cited ticket pages.

Sterling estimates use the ECB reference rates of 9 October 2026: €1 = C$1.5942 and £0.84763, giving C$1 approximately £0.53170. Figures are rounded; your card provider’s exchange rate and fees can differ.

For a short break, compare one reserved early-round session with any extra grounds admission you actually need. Read the current weather, cancellation and transfer terms before buying flights with strict conditions. Save the confirmation, keep your ticket account accessible and charge the phone holding your admission. If you book for a group, check the seats together in the same order; a shared price band alone does not ensure adjacent places.

Getting there from the UK

Search for Montreal–Trudeau, airport code YUL, when comparing UK flights. A direct itinerary is usually the simplest starting point; compare connections by the time you will reach the hotel, not just the advertised fare. If you connect through another country, check its transit requirements as well as Canada’s entry rules. Arrive before your tennis day so a flight delay, baggage problem or border queue does not use up your session.

The airport’s current 747 bus fare is C$11.25, about £6, including 24-hour STM bus and Metro travel. This is a tariff checked on 9 October 2026; confirm the 2027 fare before travelling. The downtown terminus changed in January 2026, so use the current airport and STM route information for the stop nearest your hotel. Airport transport projects and timetables can also change before the event. Add border formalities, waiting and the last hotel connection to any quoted journey time.

Choose your arrival transfer after you know the accommodation address. A taxi may be useful with several bags or a late arrival; ask for the applicable fare and loading arrangements before setting off. Montreal and Toronto are different airports and cities, so a bargain flight to Toronto still leaves an intercity journey. If visiting both tournaments, reserve that journey separately and leave enough time to check in at the second hotel.

Getting there on the day

Set the destination to IGA Stadium, 285 Gary-Carter Street. The organiser identifies De Castelnau on the Metro blue line as the convenient station. Jarry on the orange line is another option, with an approximately 20-minute walk to the main entrance. Use the full hotel-to-gate route when comparing them. A journey that looks short on a map can involve a line change and a longer final walk, particularly if your ticket directs you to another entrance.

Match tickets currently do not include free STM travel. Budget for local transport and choose the appropriate STM product for the journeys you will make; the airport 747 product has its own validity. Check service changes before leaving, allow time for entry screening and follow the current gate directions. The tournament says parking is extremely limited, so public transport is a useful default for a city stay.

Keep the return route saved before the first match starts. Evening tennis can finish late, and your preferred restaurant or transport connection may require a different plan by then. Carry sun protection and a light waterproof layer, check the current bag policy and leave travel luggage at the hotel. If booking a taxi after play, arrange a practical pickup point away from the densest departing crowd and keep a backup way back.

Accessibility

Contact the Montreal ticket team before buying if you need wheelchair places, companion seating or help reaching your section. The organiser lists accessible viewing positions in levels 200 and 300 and elevators at accesses 2 and 10. Give the team the date you want, your mobility needs and whether you will bring a companion, so the confirmed seat and entrance route suit the whole party. It participates in the local Companion Leisure Card programme; ask what applies to a visiting UK guest.

The Gary-Carter VIP entrance is the organiser’s reduced-mobility drop-off point, with accessible parking subject to the stated government-permit conditions. Confirm eligibility for your documentation before relying on a parking space. Plan the airport transfer, hotel bathroom and transport route separately, including station lifts and the distance from the exit to your entrance. Ask about any temporary lift disruption before the session and leave extra time to use the route comfortably.

Entry requirements for UK visitors

Entry requirements were checked on 9 October 2026. GOV.UK says a full British citizen passport must be valid for the duration of your stay. British tourists usually visit Canada without a visa for a short stay, but eligible visitors arriving by air need an electronic travel authorization, or eTA, including when transiting a Canadian airport. Apply through the Government of Canada website before travel and use the passport you will carry. Approval is linked electronically to that passport; a replacement passport can therefore change what you need to do.

An eTA is normally unnecessary for entry by land or sea, although the other entry conditions still apply. British–Canadian dual nationals have different passport requirements, so follow the nationality-specific advice. Keep your return or onward journey and accommodation details available for border questions. If you add a United States tournament, check the separate US entry requirements and the route you will use to cross the border. A Canadian eTA gives no US travel permission. Revisit GOV.UK and the official Canadian eligibility page before your 2027 departure.

Where to stay

For repeated tennis days, compare Villeray first: it puts the stadium and local food scene at the centre of the trip. Little Italy and Mile End suit visitors who want neighbourhood restaurants and cafés with a planned onward journey to Jarry Park. A central hotel can still work well for one stadium day, particularly when the rest of the holiday is devoted to the city.

The five areas below are starting points for hotel searches, with relative budget descriptions instead of promised room rates. Test the property’s exact Metro route, the walk after a late session and the total after taxes. Check cancellation terms, air conditioning, lift access, breakfast and luggage storage. If arriving before check-in, arrange a place for bags so you can enjoy your first afternoon without carrying them.

Make a weekend of it

Try three or four nights for a balanced first visit: arrive and settle in, spend a full day at tennis, then leave a separate day for Montreal. For the opening 2027 weekend, Saturday 31 July is qualifying and Sunday 1 August is the first main-draw day. Choose the specific admission you want for each. The final is on Thursday 12 August, so a closing-round break needs weekday time off; a conventional Saturday–Sunday weekend will not include the final.

Keep a tennis day focused on Jarry Park and Villeray. Have breakfast near the hotel, reach the grounds before the match you want and leave time for a neighbourhood meal when the session ends. On your free day, Mount Royal offers a park walk and city views; choose a route suited to your energy and mobility. Confirm individual facilities and opening hours before going. Comfortable shoes matter on both the city walk and a long day around the courts.

Avoid fixed attraction bookings immediately after a tennis session. Outdoor matches and weather can move your day around, and a relaxed dinner is easier to adapt than a timed tour. Families should compare qualifying or early-round court choices with the children’s ability to sit through a match, then plan breaks and drinks. Take a charged phone, save the hotel address and make any essential travel arrangements while you still have a reliable connection.

More tennis nearby

Build a North American summer swing from the Washington Open through the Canadian Open in Montreal and Canadian Open in Toronto, then the Cincinnati Open and US Open. The two Canadian events run together, so choose your preferred tour first and divide your days deliberately if you want both. Leave travel days between cities, price each flight or rail leg separately and secure admission for each event. A long itinerary works best when it includes time away from the courts.

For a spring trip, the Indian Wells and Miami Open guides form the US sunshine double. That is a separate March journey; it can help you decide whether a warm-weather tennis holiday or the August hard-court build-up suits your available time.
