2027 planning: The LTA lists a provisional event range. Exact qualifying and main-draw dates, 2027 ticket prices and sale dates still await publication.

The tournament in brief

Birmingham’s grass-court tournament is the Lexus Birmingham Open at Edgbaston Priory Club. It brings men’s ATP Challenger 125 and women’s WTA 125 tennis into the same visit. These are the current tiers, with the final 2027 tour listings still worth checking when you book. The club address is Sir Harrys Road, Birmingham B15 2UZ. Choose this trip if you like being able to combine competitive tennis with a city weekend and an uncomplicated UK journey.

The LTA’s provisional 2027 event range is 29 May–6 June. It says the exact qualifying and main-draw dates have yet to be finalised. Do not assume the first Saturday has the same programme as the final Sunday. Wait for the day-by-day schedule before making a promise to see a particular round. A refundable hotel can give you a useful head start while that detail is still pending.

For a first visit, choose one tennis day and leave another day for the city. Read the entry list when published, then check the daily order of play close to your visit. A ticket buys access to a day and court category, not a guaranteed appearance by a particular player. Keep the evening flexible in case the matches you want run longer than expected.

Tickets, qualifying and court access

2027 ticket prices and sale dates are to be announced. Check the official ticket page for qualifying and early-round admission. The official ticket page says sales will open nearer the event. Register for LTA Advantage updates if you want the organiser’s announcement, and read the exact purchase conditions once tickets are available. Avoid budgeting on an assumed free day.

In 2026, the event sold Ann Jones Centre Court tickets and grounds admission covering outside courts. That explains the useful choice for your next visit: compare the named show-court seat with the courts included in a grounds ticket. The organiser still needs to confirm the 2027 categories. Read the ticket’s date, court, seat and age category together before paying, especially if you are buying for children or a mixed group.

Choose your priorities before the sale opens. A reserved seat gives you a clear base, while a ticket with outside-court access can suit people who enjoy following different matches. Ask how weather interruptions affect the ticket, and save the confirmation and account details. The terms of sale control any credit or refund; do not assume a rain delay gives you an automatic cash refund.

Travelling to Birmingham

Start with Birmingham New Street if you are arriving by long-distance train. It is the rail hub used in the LTA’s visitor plan. Compare the cost and conditions of an advance train with the flexibility of an open return: tennis can finish later than expected. Leave a buffer between your planned departure from the club and the train you book.

For a short weekend, arriving the evening before your ticketed day avoids combining a long train journey with your first matches. Pick a hotel by its actual address and connection to the club. A room close to the station can work particularly well if you want to leave luggage before heading to Edgbaston. Confirm storage and check-in directly with the hotel.

Driving can make sense for a group, but include spectator parking and the onward journey in your comparison. Check road works and the return route when your dates are settled. The club’s ordinary car park is not the default spectator option. Keep the organiser’s travel page saved so you can follow the approved arrival arrangements for your edition.

Getting there and parking

The LTA’s 2026 travel page gives a 40-minute walk from New Street, or buses from St Martin’s Queensway. Routes 61 and 63 stop at Sir Harrys Road on Bristol Road, followed by an organiser-estimated six-minute walk. Routes 45 and 47 use Calthorpe Court on Pershore Road with an eleven-minute walk. Check the operator’s live route before travelling; those are 2026 arrangements, not a promised 2027 timetable.

The 2026 ordinary spectator car park was on Brailsford Drive, B15 2QU. Parking cost £10 for one car for one day in 2026, with an onward park-and-ride service. Club parking was for members. Wait for the 2027 parking product and shuttle details before buying a space or choosing a car arrival.

Five Ways is an additional rail option to investigate. Map its walk to the club and check station notices. Use the bus plan if the walk does not suit your group, and read the last service for the complete return journey. Allow time for the queue to leave the venue and the final walk to your stop.

Accessibility and assistance

National Rail classifies Five Ways as category A with step-free access to all platforms. At this check on 11 October 2026, it also displayed a lift outage. That is why the classification alone cannot settle your arrival plan. Check the live notice again and arrange Passenger Assist or an alternative station and transfer if required. Platform access and boarding a train are separate questions.

The LTA’s 2026 Birmingham accessibility page describes wheelchair Centre Court spaces with a complimentary companion ticket. Blue Badge parking at the club required an enquiry and was limited. The 2027 ticket page says accessible arrangements will be confirmed with ticket details. Contact the organiser before committing to a booking if a particular seat, parking space or assistance arrangement is essential.

Tell the organiser what would make your day workable: the type of viewing space, companion support, walking distance or equipment you need. Ask about the route from the entrance to your seat and accessible toilets. Keep a second arrival option ready if a lift or bus service changes. A little planning here is more useful than choosing a hotel solely because it looks close on a map.

Plan for an outdoor tennis day

Pack a light waterproof, sun protection and shoes comfortable for walking around an outdoor club. Check the organiser’s current bag, food and drink rules before leaving your hotel. Keep your ticket available offline and carry a charged phone with enough power for the journey home. Save the venue address separately from the ticket email so it is easy to show a driver or station member of staff.

For children, choose the actual age category when sales open and ask about buggy storage, changing facilities and any quiet space your group needs. Plan breaks between matches, with an easy meeting point if people split up. Wait for a changeover before entering or leaving a seating row. A shorter first tennis day often works better than trying to stay from opening until the final ball.

If the forecast changes, keep your sightseeing day flexible. Check the tournament’s weather and ticket terms before switching plans, and do not assume an indoor club facility will be available as spectator shelter. Bring only what your current ticket terms permit, with medication and everyday essentials packed where you can reach them easily.

Where to stay

Start with Edgbaston for proximity or the city centre for a rail arrival and a wider choice of evenings out. Price levels are a rough guide: check live prices for your dates. Use your actual dates, party size and cancellation requirements when you compare rooms. A cheap room can cost more overall if every tennis journey needs a taxi.

Check the address, final walking route and evening return before booking. Ask for a suitable room and lift access directly if required; a neighbourhood name does not confirm a hotel’s accessibility. The hotel searches below let you compare each area using the site’s existing Booking.com route. Keep the booking flexible while the LTA’s provisional dates are being finalised.

Edgbaston

Leafy streets and the most convenient search area for the club.

Make a weekend of it

Walk the city-centre canals around Brindleyplace, explore the Jewellery Quarter, or choose Birmingham Botanical Gardens for a separate city day. The official visitor site covers all three. Check attraction opening dates and ticket requirements before setting off; a tennis session is a poor place to squeeze in a timed attraction booking.

If you only have one day: prioritise your ticketed tennis and choose an easy meal afterwards. If you have a weekend, spend the arrival evening near your hotel, use your full court day without rushing, then explore the city before travelling home. A canal walk can fit around a rail departure more easily than an activity with a fixed start time.

Searching for the Surbiton or Manchester Trophy? The LTA says Surbiton’s mixed event ended after 2024; its March 2022 announcement ended the Manchester Trophy at the Northern Lawn Tennis Club. Those historical events have no 2027 ticket offer to carry into this guide. Birmingham and Ilkley are useful current grass-season alternatives, alongside the other UK guides on this site.
