Plan the whole visit: Wimbledon
Choose for the journey you will actually make
A room near the tennis can make an early start easier, while a well-connected London base can suit a wider sightseeing trip. Decide which visit you are planning before comparing hotels. If you will try the Queue, check the route to Wimbledon Park at your intended arrival time; a timetable for a normal daytime journey is not enough.
For a ticketed day, think about the journey home as well as the outward trip. Leave room for a late match, a crowded exit and a walk back to transport. A hotel beside a convenient station can be more useful than one with a promising neighbourhood name but a long final walk.
Wimbledon runs 28 June–11 July 2027. Reserve for the day you have secured, or choose suitable cancellation terms while awaiting an offer. Price levels are a rough guide: check live prices for your dates.

The area cards repeat the same stay data as the full Wimbledon guide. Journeys are planning estimates from a well-connected address, and include the final approach to the grounds. Check your hotel’s exact location; waiting, disruption and a room far from a station can lengthen them.

Check the District line branch and interchange
From a District line base, check the station and the train’s destination. Wimbledon is one branch, and a District line address does not automatically give you a direct journey to Southfields. Richmond needs an appropriate change; choose the connection in TfL’s planner and save the return route as well.
Central London can work well if evenings and other attractions are part of the trip. Compare the actual door-to-gate journey against the money you save on a room, then consider whether you still want that journey after a long tennis day. Keep your luggage arrangements separate from your transport ticket.

Compare the total and cancellation terms
Compare like with like: the same nights, occupants, room type and cancellation conditions. Check whether breakfast, taxes and any extra charges are included. A cheaper headline amount can lose its advantage once you add travel or a room upgrade that your group needs.
Ask about luggage storage if check-in comes after your departure for tennis. Save the hotel address, confirmation and emergency contact in a form you can access easily. For step-free travel, check the station and your hotel entrance separately. The full guide’s Where to stay section keeps these area comparisons alongside the tournament travel information.

Wimbledon accommodation FAQs
Which area is best for an early Queue start?
Consider Southfields or a genuinely walkable local address, then check the route to the park entrance. Hotel location matters more than the area label.
Is Wimbledon Village the same as Wimbledon town?
No. The Village offers a leafy local base; the town centres on the rail hub, shops and practical connections. Compare their actual walks.
Does Richmond have a direct District line train?
A change is needed for Southfields. Plan the connection in TfL before choosing a hotel.
Are the price levels nightly rates?
No. They compare the kinds of accommodation available. Search your dates and compare the total for the complete stay.
Should I book before getting a ticket?
If you book while awaiting an offer, choose cancellation terms that you understand and can use. Avoid fixing a date you cannot change.
